Keeping the Time Lord

The Celtics drafted Robert Williams III with the no. 27 overall pick of the 2018 NBA Draft. When the first-round pick accidentally overslept a conference call the day after the draft, and then missed a subsequent flight to Boston and the team’s first summer league practice, Celtics fans nicknamed Williams “Time Lord.” The name stuck, and on February 27, 2020, the Maine Red Claws – the Celtics G League affiliate – tried to boost game attendance by distributing Robert Williams bobbleheads, which aptly featured the “Time Lord” standing on a clock.
