Hondo and Jo Jo

Future Hall-of-Famers Jo Jo White and John Havlicek brought the ball up the court against the Phoenix Suns during the 1976 NBA Finals. Havlicek got his nickname “Hondo” from the 1953 John Wayne movie of the same name, while Joseph White’s high school coach christened him “Jo Jo.” Both players heavily contributed to Boston’s NBA World Championship title that year: White led the team in the NBA Finals averaging 21.7 points and Havlicek finished third with 15.5 points per game.
