Ainge’s Expectations

The Celtics moved in the wrong direction during the 2005-06 season as they fell 12 games in the standings and missed the playoffs. Director of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge bluntly said, “I expected better results.” However, there were some bright spots off the court during that campaign. TD Banknorth purchased Fleet Bank and renamed Boston’s home arena to TD Banknorth Garden, later known as TD Garden, as a tribute to the old Boston Garden. The Celtics Shamrock Foundation also stepped up its charitable efforts through several programs supported by the team and individual players.
