A Fresh Start in 2013
Big changes were in store for the Celtics in 2013 as Head Coach Doc Rivers departed for the Los Angeles Clippers, and Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce went to the Brooklyn Nets on a trade. In their stead, Director of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge brought in Butler University Coach Brad Stevens and filled the roster with young players such as Avery Bradley, Kelly Olynyk, Jared Sullinger and Jordan Crawford. But injuries again crept in as Crawford and veteran guard Rajon Rondo missed at least half of the season, resulting in a lackluster 25-57 campaign. Despite the struggles on the court, support for the team never flagged as exemplified in the season finale when, down by 26 points, the sellout crowd chanted “Let’s Go Cel-tics!”
