He may not have known at the time that he was playing his last career game, but Bill Russell was overcome with emotion after winning the 1969 NBA World Championship title. The ending came as it only could have – a 108-106 Game 7 victory over the rival Los Angeles Lakers. When he did finally speak, Russell simply said, “We played well together.”
