Training for Game Day
Celtics players always train and practice to get better. The Celtics Dancers are the same way. Director Marina Ortega, who helped start the troupe in 2006, kept a steady practice schedule for the squad. For game days, the dancers arrived at the office in the morning and connected with the Game Operations department. After a quick lunch and workout, the group then headed to the Garden. The troupe of 18 dancers rotated 12 at a time, allowing three hours before each game to go over mapping for player introductions and timeout routines. Said Ortega, “we have to be ready for all scenarios no matter the rotation.” This Celtics Dancers outfit paid special homage to Robert Parish, who also prioritized training throughout his Celtics career.
