Tied Up in Celtics History
Jayson Tatum is someone you want on your team when the going gets tough. The All-Star forward exploded for 60 points, tying a franchise record with Larry Bird, and rallied the Celtics for an incredible 143-140 comeback win in overtime over the San Antonio Spurs. Boston trailed by as many as 32 points and surrendered 77 points at halftime. Never giving up, Tatum hustled in the second half and OT to finish with 20-of-37 shooting, five 3-pointers and a new career high in scoring. “It was a special night,” he said. “Playing with guys you enjoy being around who are genuinely happy for your success.” Tatum equaled the team record set by Bird on March 12, 1985. He also became the second-youngest player in NBA history with 60 points in a game at age 23 years and 58 days, behind Devin Booker.
