The Original Big Three
Date: 1980s
Hall-of-Famers Kevin McHale, Robert Parish and Larry Bird looked at home on the parquet floor at Boston Garden. The legendary trio brought dominance to Boston in the 1980s. Indiana State phenom Bird got his start in 1979. One year later, Red Auerbach traded two first-round draft picks to the Golden State Warriors for Parish and a first-round pick later used on McHale. “We came up as a young group together,” said McHale. “Everybody complemented each other. We had good chemistry. Good symmetry. Everybody’s talents complemented each other.”
