The 1969 Celtics Team Effort
Date: October 17, 1969
Boston won the 1969 NBA Finals over the Los Angeles Lakers with a 108-106 victory in Game 7. New York Times writer Leonard Koppett wrote of the series, “The Lakers had brilliant individuals, the Celtics played as a unit with five parts.” On the opening night of the 1969-70 season, John Havlicek and NBA President Walter Kenney posed with the Walter A. Brown Trophy. The award, named after the late Celtics founder and team owner, went to team that won the NBA World Championship title.
