Switch Hitting Conley
Date: 1959-60 season
The Celtics boasted a multi-sport athlete on the cover of their 1959-60 yearbook. Gene Conley, who was drafted by Boston in 1952, left the team after his rookie season to play baseball with the Milwaukee Braves. He spent five campaigns in Milwaukee and won the 1957 World Series. Conley rejoined the Celtics in 1958, helping the team to three NBA World Championship titles. With all of that hardware, Conley became one of two athletes (along with Otto Graham) to win a championship in two of the four major sports leagues.
