Coach Red Auerbach and Tommy Heinsohn took turns shaving the goatee off rookie sensation Bill Russell after the Celtics won their first NBA World Championship title in 1957. Russell said, “I was going to keep it on until we won the championship – no matter how many years it took.” Good thing for Russell, it took him only one season!
