Delonte West, Paul Pierce and a group of Winthrop Elementary School children laughed during the Celtics players’ visit as part of the NBA’s Read to Achieve program. Along with student helpers, the pair performed “The True Story of the Three Little Pigs” — complete with Pierce wearing a mask for his role as the Big Bad Wolf. Pierce, who shared that he read one or two books nightly to his two-year-old daughter, explained the importance of learning to the audience. “My mom always said I could do anything I put my mind to,” he said. “You can do anything in life if you put your mind to it and focus.”
