Playoff Rondo
Date: November 1, 2006
The Celtics paid tribute to Red Auerbach with commemorative patches in the shape of a shamrock after the franchise patriarch died in 2006. The C’s paid further tribute to Red by winning an NBA World Championship in 2008 – and Rajon Rondo played a big part. Rondo was so good in the clutch that Kendrick Perkins simply called him “Playoff Rondo.” Rondo explained that it was all about teamwork. “There was one effort. One goal,” he said. “At one point in time throughout the season, everybody is going to have a chance to play a part and a role in it in this championship. And that’s what happened.”
