P.J. Gets His Crown
Date: June 12, 2008
After 14 seasons, including three on NBA All-Defensive teams, P.J. Brown thought his NBA career ended after the 2006-07 season. A chance encounter with Paul Pierce led to Brown signing with the Celtics in February 2008 and the journeyman finally got a chance to play in the NBA Finals. Brown contributed to all aspects of play, including with big minutes and key rebounding during the championship series against the Los Angeles Lakers. In the crucial Game 4 win at Los Angeles, Brown’s emphatic dunk over Kobe Bryant capped a 21-3 Celtics run. With a grin Brown simply said, “That was awesome.” The Celtics defeated the Lakers on the road, 97-91.
