Heinsohn Makes His Mark
Date: 1950s to 1960s
Tommy Heinsohn played in 758 regular season and playoff games across nine seasons for the Celtics. Although a foot injury limited his playing career, Heinsohn’s performance during that time landed him in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a player in 1986. “I think it’s a tribute to the Celtic organization as a team,” Heinsohn said during his induction ceremony. “Certainly the statistics I have can’t match some of the others that have been inducted into the Hall of Fame.” With the induction, Heinsohn became the 14th Celtics player in franchise history to be enshrined.
