Going Dutch in Boston

Adolph Charlie “Dutch” Hoefer played on the inaugural Celtics team in the 1946-47 season. Born in 1921 in Frankfurt, Germany, Hoefer’s family immigrated to the United States in 1926. He attended Queen’s College before beginning his basketball career. The Celtics acquired the 5-foot-9 point guard from the Toronto Huskies for Mike Wallace on January 2, 1947. Hoefer played 42 games for Boston, averaging 5.3 points per game.
