Fulfilling a Lifelong Dream
Jayson Tatum threw down a dunk in the first quarter of the 2020 NBA All-Star Game in Chicago. As a member of the winning Team LeBron, Tatum chipped in six points, three assists and three steals off the bench. The 2020 ASG had a special meaning to Tatum, who first attended All-Star weekend in 2007 at 8 years old. His mother couldn’t afford tickets to the game, but the experience meant everything to the budding basketball phenom. “I just kept telling myself that weekend, ‘Man, one day I’m going to be here,'” Tatum said. “I was so young, probably a bunch of kids say that. But I just had so much fun. It was one of the best times of my life.” After his first All-Star nod in 2020, Tatum was named to the team again in 2021 and 2022.
