Fans Say Goodbye to Bird

Larry Bird Night at Boston Garden was special for the future Hall-of-Famer, and just as memorable for the fans who followed his 13-season career. The more than 14,000 fans lucky enough to get into the arena received a tote bag filled with goodies like souvenir shirts, a plastic frame for their Leroy Neiman-inspired ticket stub, a pennant, a program and a small box of Wheaties. One fan attending the ceremony brought something else important. “We have lots of Kleenex, industrial strength Kleenex,” she said.
