Everyone Loves a Parade
Date: June 10, 1986
Sports championship parades have gone on since the early 1900s. With Boston’s long tradition of postseason success, there have been lots of opportunities for Celtics fans to see their team riding through the streets of Beantown and gather in front of City Hall. In 1986, more than 1 million fans came out to celebrate “Celtics Pride Day.” One Boston taxi driver mused about the crowd, “Just consider it. You don’t get to see all these people together at one time.”
