Drafting a Summer League Star

With the No. 53 overall pick of the 2022 NBA Draft, the Celtics selected 19-year-old guard JD Davison from the University of Alabama. He made a splash in the 2022 Summer League, averaging 13.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and a league-best 8.2 assists over five games. “Coming from where I’m from, maybe 100, 200 people in my town, this is a big thing for me to get drafted,” said Davison, a product of Calhoun High School in Letohatchee, Alabama. “I told my family no matter where I go, it’s a blessing to get drafted.” Davison signed a two-way contract with the Celtics with plans to split time between Boston and the G League affiliate in Maine.
