Chief Stands, Captain Falls

Just weeks after collapsing on the court during the 1993 NBA Playoffs, newly-minted captain Reggie Lewis passed away at just 27 years old. The tragic ending made basketball small by comparison, but the games did go on in the 1993-94 season. Team veteran Robert Parish led the charge in his final season with the Celtics. “Each time I take the court this season, it will be in memory of Reggie Lewis,” Parish explained.
