A Warmup Superstition
Date: 2000s
During Boston’s 2007-08 NBA World Championship title-winning season, Paul Pierce made a mistake. Once, during pregame warmups, he attempted a 360 dunk and missed. This infuriated teammate Ray Allen, who later said, “We were winning. Why would he change it up when we were winning?” Allen demanded Pierce make the same attempt during warmups, and miss, for the rest of the season. Turns out Allen had the right idea.
