A Philly Farewell

On March 10, 1978, John Havlicek played his last professional NBA game in Philadelphia. While Havlicek scored 19 points, the Celtics fell to the 76ers, 120-109. In a sign of how Havlicek had an impact outside the sport of basketball, prior to the game the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers gifted this hockey stick to Havlicek. The stick has a dedication to Havlicek stating: “With a heart as big as yours you’d have been a perfect Flyer.”
