A New Energy Source

The Celtics selected Jaylen Brown out of California with the No. 3 overall pick of the 2016 NBA Draft. During his lone season at Cal, Brown was one of the team’s top scorers and earned the honor of Pac-12 Freshman of the Year. He brought that success to Boston’s opening night lineup on October 26, 2016, scoring nine points on 3-of-4 shooting as the Celtics beat the Brooklyn Nets, 122-117. When asked if he was nervous for his debut, the rookie replied, “On a scale of 1-10, I was a seven or eight. You want to have a lot of energy, and it’s hard to suppress your energy.” Brown has been known as an energetic playmaker ever since.
