A Great Shirt for the Parade
Date: June 19, 2008
Ahead of the 2008 NBA World Championship parade, members of the Celtics put on shirts featuring caricatures of players and their autographs to wear while riding Boston’s famed duck boats. The players seemed to love the parade as much as the fans. Celtics legend Bob Cousy, who boarded a duck boat for the event, said there weren’t any parades for the 1950s and 1960s title-winning teams. “Our situation was so Mickey Mouse compared with what goes on today, both in television and the fans,” he said. “But that didn’t mean we didn’t enjoy it every bit as much as these guys.”
