A Familiar Bird

Larry Bird played his entire Celtics career in Converse shoes and wore these Converse Pros in the early 1980s. At the time, Converse ran an ad for the Converse Pro with the headline: “Familiar American Birds.” Included were the American Flamingo, the Ring Billed Gull, the Ruby Throated Hummingbird, and, most famously, the Golden Crested, Green Footed Larry Bird.
